4 mil Clear Safety Window Film

Elevate the safety of your glass with Cristal 4 mil Clear Safety Window Film. The film reinforces the glass and holds the fragments together if it breaks, so a broken pane stays in the frame instead of falling as shards.

It is built from several layers of polyester bonded with an adhesive layer. What it does not do is stop the glass from breaking — no film does that; the difference is what happens after the impact.

EN12600 1B1: Clear, Strong 4 mil Safety Film

The 4 mil film is made to the EN12600 1B1 safety standard — the classification for impact resistance of glazing. On the glass it is barely visible: it transmits 86% of the visible light, so a window with it on looks like a window without it, in homes, shops and offices alike.

Cristal 4 mil Film: Key Physical Features

The 4 mil window film is transparent polyester with an adhesive layer. When the glass breaks, that adhesive holds the fragments together, which is what reduces the risk of injury.

Installation

Cristal 4 mil goes on like any window film: the adhesive layer is covered by a clear liner, which comes off before the film goes on the glass. The install is wet, with mounting solution.

Installation Recommendations

Do not fold the film. After unpacking, lay it flat — a crease in the film does not come out afterwards, unlike a bubble.
